“Sendle is carbon neutral, B-Corp certified and affordable. It ticks all the boxes for us.” ~ Mark Freidin, co-founder, Reluv
TL;DR (too long; didn't read)
- Karen Freidin's interest in fast fashion was sparked by her teenage daughters.
- As their interest in fashion grew, she started to question the ethics of the industry.
- Karen and Mark Freidin founded Reluv in 2019 to combat over consumption.
- Reluv offers preloved clothing as an alternative to new garments.
- Reluv was attracted by Sendle's environmental record and affordable prices.
- Sendle's integration with ReadyToShip has delivered additional savings.
When she started to explore sustainability in the fashion industry, Karen Freidin was shocked to learn of the social and environmental impact caused by Australia’s ongoing love affair with fast fashion. The more she learnt about the industry, the more she wanted to try and change it.
So, Karen and her husband, Mark Freidin, established Reluv in 2019 to encourage Australians to embrace high quality second-hand clothing instead of always buying new. Karen believes second-hand fashion is part of the solution to over consumption and environmental challenges faced by the fashion industry.
At Reluv, savvy consumers can find beautiful and affordable preloved clothing, knowing that every time they choose to buy a second-hand item, they are contributing to a more sustainable fashion movement.
Sustainability is key
At Reluv, sustainability is at the core of everything they do, so it made sense to look for a shipping partner with the same values. As the world's first 100% carbon neutral shipping carrier, Sendle was the obvious choice.
And while Sendle is carbon neutral today, it’s not standing still. Rather, it has set itself a Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) goal of reaching net zero by 2040. This means that instead of offsetting its carbon emissions, the company is working towards eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from its operations with smarter technology and systems.
Reluv uses compostable packaging to help reduce its environmental impact. Sendle offers a range of compostable packages as well as the fantastic new recyclable POLLAST!C satchels that are made from ocean-bound plastic waste. This range prevents pollutants entering the waterways in the first place and creates employment opportunities for people across Southeast Asia.
Shipping is affordable with Sendle
While Reluv was swayed by Sendle's record on sustainability, price and customer service were also important considerations. Reluv wants to encourage fashion lovers to switch to pre-loved clothing, so it offers flat-rate shipping. Sendle's great shipping rates and Ship & Save loyalty program help ensure that shipping costs are contained, while the free parcel pickup service saves time and money that would otherwise be spent on transporting packages to a post office.
Shipping is easy with ReadyToShip
More benefits come from Sendle's integration with ReadyToShip, and Mark is quick to point out that this saves them time and money as well. With all the details they need to manage fulfilment available in ReadyToShip's simple interface, Reluv staff can process orders quickly instead of wasting time copying details from one system to another. ReadyToShip lets them print pick slips, invoices and shipping labels easily, and customer communications are automatically triggered as orders are processed.
Sendle is committed to helping small business through sustainable, reliable and affordable shipping. We’re proud to be part of Reluv's sustainable success story, alongside our partner ReadyToShip, and can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
